The traditional fashion industry works on a lot of guesswork. 

Brands predict how many garments they think people will buy, manufacture large quantities in advance and hope everything sells. 

When it does not, those pieces often end up heavily discounted, sitting in warehouses or becoming part of the enormous amount of unwanted clothing produced by the fashion industry every year. 

At ETC, we have been exploring a different approach for selected products: making pieces based on genuine customer demand. 

In simple terms, we want to make clothing that already has a home. 

There are some important benefits to this approach. 

It allows us to be more thoughtful about how much we produce rather than ordering huge volumes simply to fill a warehouse. 

It can help reduce the amount of unsold stock left at the end of a season. 

It also allows a small brand like ETC to offer a more interesting and varied product range without needing to mass-produce every single style. 

There is, of course, a trade-off. 

Made-to-order and pre-order products can take longer to arrive than something sitting on a warehouse shelf ready for same-day dispatch. 

We know waiting is not for everyone. 

That is why one of our biggest priorities is making the difference between available-now and made-to-order products as clear as possible, along with providing better information about expected delivery timeframes. 

We want you to be able to make an informed choice before placing your order. 

For some customers, having something immediately is the priority. 

For others, waiting a little longer for a piece they really love is absolutely fine. 

Both are valid. 

What matters to us is that you know what to expect. 

We believe there is room for a slower and more considered way of creating clothing, particularly for distinctive products that are not designed to be mass-market basics. 

Good things can sometimes be worth waiting for. 

But we also know that trust comes from keeping customers informed along the way. 

As ETC continues to refine how we work, our goal is to make the entire process clearer, easier and more transparent, so you can feel confident about what you are ordering and when you can expect to receive it.
